Another enlightening class I had today. Time to recap or I'll forget everything in no time.

Picasso VS Alice Walker

Picasso says " Art is a lie, but it lets us see the truth."
Alice Walker says "I don't know if a bad person can write a good book. If art doesn't make us better, then what on earth is it for?"

Pablo Picasso is a famous artist (1881 - 1973) who said that art, can either be good or bad. For example if you put a gold fish in a grinder and mince it up. And you call that art.. Is it good or bad? It's bad, because it's against morality. However in Picasso's view, it is considered art. So comes along Alice Walker, author of "The Colour Purple", who says Art, can never be bad. It can only be good, Art must be moral.

By merely saying such a sentence, she has, undoubtedly challenged one of the most famous artists in history. By saying so, she is directly posing a question to Picasso - "Do you really think that Art can be bad?" and ultimately, she has questioned the fact that, was he really an artist. See what a huge impact she has made? She had daringly challenged THE Pablo Picasso.

Politics No-No

People say they don't like to write about politics, or they are not allowed to. It is, never possible to write a book/text without politics because by restricting yourself/others to write about it, it already is politics.

"I think; therefore I am."

A quote that revolutionalised the whole world. It has caused the way we have become today. What matters most is how we think of ourselves. Other people's opinion is secondary. This according to Mr. Kon, is kinda the wrong way of thinking.
